In North America same as in Philippines, modern technology is pervasive in everyday life. Any doubts about its importance in giving qualities of immediacy, flexibility, and physical comfort to contemporary life are quickly stilled by spending even a weekend in a country house which lacks electricity and running water.
The impact of modern technology is on ordinary activities perinient to cooking, cleaning, controlling the enviroment. and personal hygiene, its sociological impact is more difficult to asses.
And in contrast to popular impressions, historical and sociological studies of household equipment call into question the time saving effect and show that the most most important development in technology.
It also indicate the more complex relationship between technological developments and roles of children and suggest that the impact on the family division of labor.
